Join me in Amigurumi BLIND cal

Amigurumi Blind cal 2020

Let`s give this year a fun start! I have a new amigurumi freebie to share with you, but instead of simply putting this to my blog I got a spontaneous idea of making a short and fun crochet along. Do you want to join? Let me explain how it works below.

Amigurumi Blind cal 2020

CROCHET ALONG TERMS:

  • Amigurumi BLIND cal (crochet along) takes place in January 7-12, 2020.
  • Participation is free.
  • The CAL is held in English.
  • It`s a blind CAL, so you won`t know what your making in advance, but I´ll promise it`s going to be cute :)
  • I will release the pattern in my blog part by part, so you can crochet each day and see the work progressing.
  • We will take 5 days for crocheting the parts and 1 day for assembling. The secret project will be ready in less than a week!
  • Leave this post a comment if you`re planning to join (this is just for me so I know how many of you there will be).
  • Specific questions about the pattern can be asked in the comments of the blog.
  • You are allowed to share the photos of your make during and after the CAL. Remember to add #AmigurumiBLINDcal and #lilleliispattern.
  • Please do not share the instructions of the parts of this CAL in social media.
  • In the end of the CAL the whole pattern will be published in my free patterns.

STITCHES YOU`LL NEED TO KNOW:

The pattern is in easy to intermediate skill level. You need to know chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet.

SUPPLIES YOU`LL NEED:

  1. Yarn – 1 color of sport weight Alize Cotton Gold, 5 colors of fingering weight Scheepjes Catona (find shades and quantity below)
  2. Crochet hook 2.5 mm (B)
  3. Polyester fiberfill
  4. Black safety eyes (6 mm)
  5. Stitch marker

Not sure if I’ve left it a bit late but I’m going to join in this Crochet surprise pattern, guess I have some catching up to do but I’m sure it will be well worth it. 💖

I’m delighted to participate in this CAL. Yesterday, I finished parts 1 and 2.
Looking forward to starting part 3 this afternoon.

Id love to give it a go. I need to look up those yarns as I’m not familiar with those names.

    • lilleliis says:

Great to have you on board! You can use any yarn you are used to for amigurumi. Sport, DK and Light Worsted all work fine (numbers 2 and 3).

  6. debbie goodwin says:

i am in uk what time are pattern releases please, as would like to join all of you

  7. Elli says:

Hi,is there any chance I can try the cal too? I think I don’t have white yarn though! Can I change it with something else? Thanx in advance :)

    • lilleliis says:

Hi! Yes, you can easily change that. It`s the last step we need it for and then you`ll already see what it is, so you can choose the best color later.

  8. Anja Sand Bjerre says:

I will join too! Just got home from work and can’t wait to get started on part 1 😊❤️

  9. Toosh says:

Im giving it a go; don’t have quite the right colour wool though. I don’t have the dark turquoise, so what would be a good colour substitute? Seeing as I don’t know what I’m making it’s hard to pick another colour!

  10. Laura G says:

Me apunto, espero poder llevarlo al día. Esta semana es algo complicada, pero…. Lo intentaré.

  11. Anais says:

I’m in too. This is a great idea :) and I love all you patterns. I already made quite a few of them and really looking forward to this new one.

me encantaría participar! soy de Argentina y me asombra estar conectada con tejedoras de Estonia y de todo el mundo!! Espero con este proyecto aprender la técnica para tejer amigurumis. Me gustan mucho, pero no me animo a empezar!

  14. Chantale says:

Hello, I’M from Canada. I will try this cool CAL…also depends on how long we have to crochet each day …I’m not a fast crocheter! LOL

  15. Inma says:

Soy admiradora de tus trabajos. Intriga, y emoción. Quiero participar desde España. Gracias ☺️

  16. Crazytourists says:

I am new to crochet but I love a challenge, so I will probably try it. I only have a question, will different colors make sense?

  17. michelleriley6@yahoo.com says:

I am so excited to do this CAL! I have never done one before. I have a question. Would I be right in using #3 weight yarn for all 6 colors?

  18. Marie says:

J’en suis et depuis le sud ouest de la France, super idée merci beaucoup et bonne année à vous.

  19. Carolina says:

I have never been able to follow a CAL before… now I’m on medical leave, so I have nothing but time! =D
    I’m in!!!

  20. Magui says:

Yes, I will join ! it would be my first cal… I speak french but it would be ok : all your pattern are so well ! (I have 2 stepdaughter from Estonia ;)

  21. Carmen says:

Great idea to start the new year! I‘m in too‘ My first CAL ever! So excited! Thanks for sharing. 💖

  22. Jen says:

This sounds like a lot of fun. I’ve not done any amigurumi before so hoping I manage to keep up 😊

  23. Andrea says:

Wow perfect idea!! I will joint but I will try to do the parts at night after work! I hope I will have enough time after work…

  24. Nina Lisa says:

Sounds like fun so I’m joining in! I’m just wondering what to choose for the main color… Can you answer (without revealing too much) is it brownish light beige or slightly reddish light beige? Based on how it looks on my phone’s display I’m wondering if some shade that I’ve sometimes used for skin colour might work in this project.

    • Doris says:

Prooviksin hea meelega 😊 kas saab ikka järgi ka heegeldada õhtul omale sobival ajal? Mõtlen et pole lives see õpetus ainult vms. Kas lõngad on muidu kõik sama jämedusega, pole kursis konkreetsete lõngadega.

      • lilleliis says:

Julge pealehakkamisega ikka saab!!! Iga päev postitan siin blogis päeva ülesande, aga igaüks heegeldab muidugi siis, kui talle sobib (enamus rahvast hoopis teiselt poolt maakera). Lõngad võiksid olla jah enamvähem sama jämedusega.

  25. Elizabeth says:

I’d like to try this but the yarn is not available anywhere near me. I’ll have to substitute. Sport Weight and Fingering Weight are what numbers? I’m still fairly new to crochet and get confused when trying to substitute.

  26. Brandy says:

I am so excited, everything you make is always so cute! Just a tiny hint, if I substitute colors do we need to choose neutrals or would some bright stash colors be exceptable?

    • lilleliis says:

Wonderful to have you here! I´d advise not to change the beige color. Other are more flexible, but it would be wise to replace dark color with a dark color, and light color with another light shade.

  27. Sam Wright says:

This sounds like so much fun. I have catona in bright shades. Will do some colour juggling. Thank you for sharing this with us :)

    • lilleliis says:

Great! Just pick the yarn you like to use for amigurumi and you`re ready to start. I would recommend not to change the beige color.

  28. Lisa says:

Count me IN !!!!💯 Thanks so much , I can’t wait to start. Hopefully I can order my yarn 🧶 in time

  29. Birthe Jensen says:

I’m in for the cal! But how do I get the pattern every day, will you mail to us or how do you do it?

  30. Marina says:

I would love to join, but I will also have to substitute the yarns because your choice is unfortunately not available where I live.

  31. Sandra says:

I’m in!!! I’m from Perú which is why it will be difficult to find that kind of wool and those colours; however, I will try to do it with similar ones. ;-)

  32. Alison Brade says:

I can’t wait! I love your patterns. Will be dashing out tomorrow for my yarn. 😊

  33. Brenda says:

Yes please. I’m between Amigurumi projects (I’m working my way through all your books) so this will be a great way to start after the holidays.

  34. Shannon says:

I would like to participate. Suggestions for yarn substitutes for Scheepjes (US)? I’d have to order Scheepjes online and it takes awhile to arrive. Thanks!

    • lilleliis says:

Glad to have you in! Similar yarns to Scheepjes Catona are Steinbach Wolle Capri and Madam Tricot Camilla 6/4. I´m not sure if these are available in US.

  35. Suse says:

Super, ich bin dabei.schade dass es nicht auf deutsch ist aber ich habe schon andere Anleitungen von dir ins deutsche übersetzt, zum Beispiel der Clown, und er ist super geworden. Ich Versuch es auf jeden Fall. 👍

    • Rebecca says:

Hoping to be able to join as long as the yarn arrives on time. Hard to come across those yarns in the US & have them arrive in a week. Otherwise will definitely be trying the free pattern.

      • lilleliis says:

Great to have you on board! Don`t be afraid to change the yarn. This pattern requires such little quantities you might find them in your yarn leftover. Scroll to the bottom of the post to see the quantities I needed.

  36. Bianca says:

I would like to take Part, but I don’t know whether my English is good enough. But I’ll try!

  37. Pax Tisdale says:

Hoping to carve out time to do this daily (but I’m glad the pattern will be available after. Just in case) 🤪

    • lilleliis says:

The colors are not a must, however I advise to pick beige for the main shade. The other ones can be adapted more easily, but try to replace dark color with a dark one and a light color with another light shade.

    • Jolene says:

Wonderful way to begin the year…..can’t wait to get started…i am in South Africa so i think I am going to have to find yarn substitutes…

  38. Alex Mandoki says:

Excited to join, hope first working week after the Christmas break won’t challenge me too much.
