I am happy to show you my January teddy bear. Maybe you`ve already heard of Treasure the Teddy crochet challenge 2019. Well, this is my first entry for it.
This is the smallest teddy of this type I have ever made. I used Alize Cashmira, which happens to be a very nice woollen yarn. I fell in love with the color as soon as I saw it. It`s quite thin though, so I used 2.5 mm crochet hook, which is very rare to me. My teddy bear is about 19 cm tall.
Because he came out much smaller than indicated in the pattern, I also used smaller safety eyes (12 mm). You definitely want to take a closer look at them. They`re hand painted and very unique. My favourite eyes come from Laura behing HappyAmigurumi. She orders them straight from Japan, so the quality is supreme!
The challenge will last the entire 2019, so this was just the first bear of 12 I am planning to make during the year. You can read more about the challenge and find an inspiration board for January in my blog. You are welcome to join anytime you like!
Find “Treasure the Teddy” pattern in the shop. It`s available in English, Portuguese, Dutch, Danish and Estonian.

Don`t worry, Naomi. Everyone works in their own tempo. I haven`t started my April teddy yet, so I need to work quickly too!
What an adorable bear and the perfect start to the year. I hope to start mine soon and it will be based on a similar theme as I’m thinking of using some light fingering handspun yarn I have that’s a lovely grey, it’s called stormy skies.
I’m really looking forward to this challenge, thanks for coming up with the idea and sharing it.
